Luxury Lodging: Willows Lodge

In the heart of Woodinville Wine Country, amidst the towering Douglas Firs, sits Willows Lodge. This luxury retreat is only 30 minutes away from Seattle, but the drive transports you and makes you feel miles away from a major city. The lodge is centered around sustainability, re-using natural materials for the foundation and decor of the property. While wine is a huge draw to the region, guests can also explore distilleries, breweries and take part in outdoor activities like hiking along the Sammamish River Trail and a bike tour from Woodinville along Lake Washington into Seattle.

At the main entrance when driving in, the landmark you’ll notice is the shell of a large tree, the 1500-year-old “Cedar Snag.” This particular trunk was brought to Willows Lodge as a reminder of what the land was used for before development: logging. As you walk around and explore the rest of the property, you’ll find secret gardens perfect for reflection, including a large herb and edible plant garden and fruit trees used by the two restaurants on-site. If you are in need of more relaxation, the full service spa is sure to do the trick.

Willows Lodge is home to two restaurants: The Barking Frog and The Herbfarm. The Barking Frog, fearlessly led by Executive Chef Bobby Moore for the past 14 years, melds staples of the Pacific Northwest with a French flair. The Grand Marnier Prawns, the legendary dish that Moore once took off the menu but had to bring back because of protests, are crispy, saucy, tangy and most importantly, delicious. The Herbfarm, an internationally distinguished as one of America’s outstanding dining destinations, focuses on 9-course meals paired with five to six wine selections. Be sure to make reservations and arrive 30 minutes early for a pre-meal garden tour.

  1. The room with a fire place looks like it was the perfect spot! So relaxing and cozy. While I do not typically go with a luxury stay because of my budget, I definitely think this place would be awesome to stay at!

  2. Great post! I have a bunch of friends in Seattle and will have to let them know about this place since it isn’t far.

  3. I love reading about other wine regions. Seattle is one of my favorite cities and I’ve been to several Washington wineries while visiting there. Willows Lodge looks like a wonderful place to stay while exploring the area. Any place that practices sustainability gets a plus in my book.

  4. In love with luxury! I am headed to WA this summer so I definitely need to check out this place! I love a big comfy bed to sleep on after a long day of exploring!
